Biography
Meaghan O'Connor is a federal criminal defense attorney at Guirguis Law. Since graduating law school, Meaghan has focused her legal practice on representing criminal defendants charged in federal courts, including the Eastern and Middle Districts of North Carolina. Her experience includes fraud, drug, and gun cases.
Ms. O'Connor earned her Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of San Diego in 2016. She then moved across the country to Washington D.C. and worked as an Activism Coordinator at the Institute for Justice for two years. Working at a public interest law firm inspired her to go to law school, and she eventually attended Campbell University Law School in Raleigh.
While in law school, Meaghan discovered a passion for criminal law and procedure, particularly in the federal arena. She interned for the Honorable Magistrate Judge Robert T. Numbers of the Eastern District of North Carolina and Judge Lucy Inman of the North Carolina Court of Appeals. These internships, and her position as a Comments Editor on Campbell Law Review, allowed Meaghan to hone her legal writing skills. Her comment was selected for publication in Campbell's Law Review in the Fall of 2020. She gained courtroom experience by serving as a team member on Campbell's Trial Advocacy Team during her third year of law school. She graduated with honors in May 2021 and began practicing at Guirguis Law later that year.
Outside of work, Meaghan is a CrossFit enthusiast and loves spending time with her husband and friends exploring the Raleigh area.
