The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) was just reauthorized by the House of Representatives and will now be sent to President Obama for his signature. This is a groundbreaking law that provides protection to millions of women from sexual, domestic violence and dating violence.
The VAWA will include provisions to help end violence for ALL women in the United States. This includes help for Immigrant women, Native American and Alaska Native women, LGBT survivors of violence. Also, it reauthorized the Trafficking Victims and Protection Act (TVPA). This legislation gives crucial tools to law enforcement to end human trafficking and provides services to trafficking survivors.
