Raleigh City Council Approves Police Body Cameras

According to the News & Observer, Raleigh City Council approved the use of body cameras on Raleigh Police officers. Police officers will begin wearing the cameras sometime in Spring 2018.

However, it is unclear who will have access to the video footage. Currently, officers use dash cams, and footage is generally turned over to defendants in many criminal matters, such as DWIs. This footage often can help or hurt a defendant.
