WRAL News reported this morning to expect an increase of police on highways over the 2017 Thanksgiving holiday. According to the article, State Highway Patrol officers will be posted approximately every twenty miles on I-40 across North Carolina. The officers will watch closely for speeders and drunk drivers.
Receiving a speeding ticket in North Carolina can not only increase your insurance rates, but it can also put points on your license which could lead to a revocation. If you receive a speeding ticket in Wake or Durham, contact the criminal defense attorneys of Guirguis Law at (919) 832-0500 before you consider paying the ticket online.
Wine tends to flow freely on Thanksgiving, so use common sense and do not drive. However, if you find yourself in a situation where you have been pulled over for suspicion of a DWI, be mindful of a few things:
- Always be polite and cooperative to the officer.
- You can decline to take roadside tests, but if you decline a Breathalyzer, your license will be automatically revoked for a year.
- Do not answer questions beyond basic information (name, date of birth, etc.) without an attorney present. You can contact our 24 hour line at (919) 210-5804.
If you are charged with a DWI in Wake or Durham, do not try to represent yourself — you could pay way more in fines and receive a greater punishment than necessary. It is truly in your best interest to hire an attorney who is experienced with handling drunk driving charges. Call us at (919) 832-0500 for more information about how we can help you with your case.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Be safe!
