North Carolina Improper Equipment Ticket

expired registrationIn 2015, the Wake County District Attorney’s Office began allowing those charged with certain traffic offenses to plea to improper equipment.  This allows a person charged with enumerated offenses to reduce their charge to improper equipment, which does not increase auto insurance rates.*

An improper equipment ticket costs $263 in court costs and fines,** which generally costs more than a 15 over plea, however avoiding insurance rate increases will greatly benefit you over time.  Additionally, if you hire an attorney to handle your ticket, you do not even need to appear in court — the attorney will do it for you so you can avoid taking a morning off from work and paying for parking.
