Steven P. MacGilvray is an Associate Attorney at Guirguis Law focusing primarily on Criminal Defense and Juvenile Law. Mr. MacGilvray graduated from Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach.
Prior to joining Guirguis Law, PA, Mr. MacGilvray was an Assistant District Attorney for the State of North Carolina. During his time as a prosecutor, Steven acquired extensive trial experience and primarily handled drug offenses, child abuse, traffic infractions, and domestic violence cases. After deciding to devote his career to helping people who face serious legal issues, Mr. MacGilvray brings all of the skills he learned as a prosecutor to the Guirguis Law firm. By being trained in the same tactics and procedures that the State Prosecutors use on a daily basis to convict people, Mr. MacGilvray finds that his prosecutorial training gives him an advantage that lets him better represent his clients in their cases in fighting against such convictions.
During law school, Mr. MacGilvray developed a passion for criminal defense by completing numerous internships at Public Defender’s offices in North Carolina and Virginia. While in law school, Mr. MacGilvray tailored his course selections to reflect his interest in criminal law: Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, and Criminal Procedure are just a few examples.
As part of Guirguis Law, Mr. MacGilvray brings a detailed understanding of the complexities of criminal law. His service at Guirguis Law has shown to prove invaluable to our clients during some of the most difficult times of their lives.
Mr. MacGilvray is an avid firearms enthusiast who participates in target shooting competitions. He is a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights and responsible firearms ownership, and brings that passion to Guirguis Law. As an attorney, Mr. MacGilvray helps clients navigate the ever changing world of firearms regulations and helps ensure this his clients do not face criminal charges for simply exercising their constitutional right to bear arms.
In his spare time, Mr. MacGilvray enjoys scuba diving, ball room dancing, woodworking, fencing, target shooting, and cooking.
